Fishing Tips From the Pros |
Remember Ripplin’!
By BILLY MURRAY Here in the south, where jerkbaits are a staple for all fishermen, some will tell you – some won’t tell you – the difference in minnows. Case in point: during pre-spawn, suspending minnows such as a Smithwick Rogue and Bomber 15A are your best bet, but as bass move into shallow water and begin to stage for spawning, the Cotton Cordell Red Fin is your best choice. Its high floatability and quick, snappy action creates triggers that shallow-water bite. The Ripplin’ Red Fin’s unique body design reflects light in all directions. When Cotton Cordell first designed this lure, he said it creates the illusion that it’s sitting still. This lure not only is a favorite for largemouth fishermen in early spring, it is also the choice of many of my smallmouth buddies up in Canada. My color of choice in early spring is gold. Billy Murray, of Montgomery, TX, is quite simply one of the living legends of bass fishing.
